In order for steel to be considered low carbon, there are certain characteristics it must meet. Mild steel is considered the most common form of steel as the cost is comparatively small, so is generally used when large amounts of steel are needed.

Low carbon steel properties include; it is easily workable and easier to form straight from the forming process, whether that process is hot forming or cool forming.
